Music to Suit Your Event

Street Party is a retro-covers band. Based in Sydney's northern suburbs, we play all the greatest funk, pop, soul, and rock covers. We're focusing on danceable music that works in a pub as well as at the corporate Christmas party, wedding, or any other event where there is a need for great live music. Our emphasis is to create a versatile mix of your favourite music.

Lineup

Street Party have been playing together since 1999. The core of Street Party is five players, with the addition of guest players if required by the client.

Run Sheet

Usually we play a three hour performance made up of 3 X 45 minute sets, however, set lists can always be tailored to suit the client and the event. Live karaoke (where clients can sing with the live band) can also be catered for, by arrangement only.

Coming Soon: The WONDERFUNK Show: a celebration of Stevie Wonder's music, coupled with the greatest funk, disco, and soul greats of the era. This is a great night of fantastic music for dancing and celebrating.

Special Arrangements

For clients who want a bigger band, we can add professional saxophone players, full brass sections, and percussionists, depending on requirements. We can also bring in extra backup singers if required. This versatile approach allows us to add that little extra that makes us stand out from the rest.

Band Members

Ron James

Lead vocals

Born in the bustling seaport of Karachi, Ron made Australia his home in 1991 and has been singing with bands for the majority of the time he has been in Oz. He possesses a very versatile voice and can sing songs from Sinatra to Stevie Wonder to Santana, and more. Some of his influences are the great rock acts of the 70's such as KISS, Iron Maiden and Van Halen. He also loves listening to softer music by acts such as Simon and Garfunkel and James Taylor. He is able to sync-in to the mood of an audience with incredible ease and builds an instant rapport, and makes sure they all have a great time.

David Every

Drums, backup vocals

Born in London, and moving to Australia in 1969, David has a long history in the Sydney music scene starting as a technician for Roland and Phase Engineering, and building Moonlight Recording/Rehearsal Studios in Brookvale. During this time he was building his skills on the drums, having started playing at age 12. Now a seasoned drummer, when he's not playing with his reptiles he loves to get into his home recording studio, and to get out there playing live music.

Neil Waite

Bass Guitar, backup vocals

Having a long history of running a PA company (NSW Sound and Light) all around NSW, Neil decided it was high time to get back on stage. Neil is an accomplished bass player, and brings a wealth of experience in the professional audio arena, and those cool bass grooves, to the sound of Street Party.

James Murre

Lead and Rhythm Guitar, backup vocals

James is a virtuoso kind of player and loves the challenges presented by emulating covers. James also has a particular grasp of melody that adds so much authenticity to the songs. James now gives StreetParty its authentic guitar sound, to the extent that its often difficult to pick from the original song.

Rob Tessler

Keyboards

Rob has swapped from being an accomplished guitarist to an outstanding keyboard player, and he provides all the tones and moods to make the songs complete. Rob is the consumate keyboard player, and StreetParty owes a large part of its authenticity to Rob.
